New Delhi, March 16, 2019: For the evolving needs of today’s content creators, German audio-giant Sennheiser today announced the launch of its clutter-breaking Memory Mic. Designed to enhance the audio experience while creating varied kinds of content, the Sennheiser Memory Mic is a wireless must-have for one and all. Taking care of different requirements, the Memory Mic can work seamlessly with both, Android as well as iOS.
With increasing penetration of smartphones and high adoption of internet, mobile devices are being used not just to consume information, but also as one of the most important and frequently used content creation tools. In this backdrop, the need to have an external microphone which is easy to use and is able to deliver stunning audio quality has also increased. Catering to this growing segment, Sennheiser’s recently launched Memory Mic is a wireless microphone for smartphones that enables the creation of quality content at the touch of a button. Itis a small, lightweight microphone offering excellent sound and works at any distance from the smartphone.
Vipin Pungalia, Director, Professional Segment, Sennheiser India at the launch said, “Audio is really at the heart of every video. Sound not only sets the atmosphere and evokes emotions, but high sound quality remains an important area for differentiation and a hallmark of quality for video content. Understanding this and the needs of today’s evolving Indian content creators, we are really excited to offer the Memory Mic to our audience. This wireless microphone is extremely convenient to use, lightweight and offers a fantastic combination of audio quality, price and mobility. With over a 70-year history that has been built on the culture of innovation and a vision to shape the future of the audio industry, we believe the Memory Mic demonstrates our commitment to offer quality audio experience to everyone. With smartphones increasingly becoming the epicenter of content creation and consumption, a product like Memory Mic will become indispensable to the overall audio experience.”
Not just a microphone, for ease of use, there is also a Sennheiser Memory Mic App which can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play.Via the app, you can set the sensitivity of the microphone at three levels. This is very helpful if you have a quite soft voice or a loud voice – by altering its sensitivity, the microphone will adapt to your speaking style.
Besides easy one-touch synchronization of audio and video, the Memory Mic offers you the benefit of an audio mixer in the app and convenient recharging via USB. Even better, you don’t have to worry about getting out of range: Once the mic has been synced, you can record at any distance from the smartphone.
The Memory Mic allows you to create rich audio landscapes for your content, whether it’s daily vlogs, travel or cookery videos or even podcasts. When recording with the Memory Mic, the integrated microphone of the smartphone will also be active and pick up ambient sound. This allows you to record a commentary and preserve the original soundscape of the site at the same time. For example, you can do a report from an exciting location and capture its typical sounds, or have music playing in the background while giving instructions in a sports video.
When the video has been recorded, simply access the audio mixer in the Memory Mic App and set any desired balance between ambient sound and the audio captured with the Memory Mic.
For filming, the Memory Mic is simply synced with the app via Bluetooth, attached with its magnetic clip to the clothing of the person you want to film – and you’re ready to fill the camera roll of your smartphone with beautiful memories. For a report, commentary or documentary, the Memory Mic is simply synchronized with the smartphone app and attached to the clothing via the magnetic clip – and you’re ready to go. The 30g microphone replaces much heavier equipment while still allowing the journalist to deliver excellent audio quality for the job at hand.
The perfect mix
When recording with the Memory Mic, the integrated microphone of the smartphone is also active and works to concurrently pick up ambient sound. Using the dedicated audio mixer of the Memory Mic App, the user is able to select the optimum balance between ambience and the audio captured with the Memory Mic at a later point in time.
As the wireless Memory Mic does not occupy any input on the smartphone, journalists can still employ additional accessories such as a gimbal or connect an additional wired microphone for interviews. For iPhones, Sennheiser offers the HANDMIC Digital or the ClipMic digital, for example. The AMBEO Smart Headset for spatial 3D audio recordings is ideal too, as it is fully compatible sonically with the Memory Mic.
Climbing, running, cycling
Whether learning to cycle or rollicking about in the playground: The rugged Memory Mic is so lightweight it’s hardly felt. Its compact size makes it an ideal companion on day trips and holidays. The Memory Mic is reliable, robust and very forgiving when the distance and direction you talk from varies. Its operating time amounts to up to four hours, then it is simply recharged via the USB connector. After an hour, the battery has already reached 70% of its full capacity and the microphone is ready to record the next adventures!
For sound wizards and accessory enthusiasts
When recording with the Memory Mic, the integrated microphone of the smartphone will also be active and pick up ambient sound. The Memory Mic app allows you to select the perfect mix between the audio recorded by the Memory Mic and the sound recorded by the smartphone. Via the app, you can also adjust the level of the microphone, which is very helpful for soft voices. As the Memory Mic is wireless, it does not occupy any input on the smartphone, therefore you can still employ additional accessories such as a gimbal if desired.
Some tech facts
The Memory Mic features a high-quality condenser capsule with omni-directional pick-up pattern. The omni characteristic is particularly resistant to wind noise and very forgiving if a speaker changes the angle and/or distance at which he or she is talking into the microphone. Via the app, the sensitivity of the microphone can be set at three levels in order to adapt to louder or softer voices. The operating time of the microphone amounts to up to four hours – a full recharge of the integrated lithium-polymer battery via the USB port takes two hours at most. Within an hour, the battery has recharged to about 70% of its full capacity.
The Memory Mic is available now in offline stores near you, as well as Sennheiser’s web store. It comes complete with a USB charging cable and a quick guide; the free Sennheiser app is available in the Apple App Store or from Google Play.
