Students of 4-13 years perform 200 sums within 8mins
Mumbai, January 17, 2017: The 13th State- level UCMAS Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Competition 2017 saw an impressive participation of around 4000 students between the age group of 4-13 years from across Maharashtra. The competition was organized by CBS Education Pvt. Ltd, the Master Franchisee of UCMAS (Mumbai Region) at the World Trade Centre (Cuffe Parade), Mumbai.
The event was inaugurated by chief guest Shri. Ashish Shelar, Mumbai President- BJP.
Shri. Shelar said, “It is a wonderful experience to witness these young children perform speed math with such flair. It is indeed hardwork, determination, parent support and great coaching that transforms into a competition of such gamut.”
At the competition, which tests speed and accuracy in arithmetic, UCMAS students had eight minutes to solve as many as 200 mathematics questions depending on the students’ level, using only an abacus or mental arithmetic.
Mr. C. D. Mishra, Director of CBS Education Pvt. Ltd said, “The participation this year is highly overwhelming, which proves that UCMAS has indeed achieved its objective of spreading love for arithmetic among children of India. Such competition increase students’ awareness towards abacus education and develops their learning ability besides increasing their intellectual skills and mental capabilities.”
The competition result announcement and award ceremony with prize distribution will be held on 17th Jan at Pracharya Vaidya Sabhagriha, Dadar. There will be two ‘Champions of Champions’ title, of which senior ( F, G, H, and K category) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and Junior ( C, D and E category) will be awarded cash prize of Rs. 11,000 and all ‘Champions’ title winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3000 each.
