Awards program rewards organizations for demonstrating increases in customer satisfaction and revenue through quality

Milwaukee, June 03, 2017: Sullair Argentina, a manufacturer, distributor and renter of a wide variety of equipment for industry, was awarded gold-level status at ASQ’s International Team Excellence Awards for improving its productivity and efficiency.

In addition to its gold-level winner, ASQ announced the award winners — which included one silver and three bronze-level teams — at its World Conference on Quality and Improvement (WCQI) in Charlotte, N.C., USA. In its 32nd year, 23 teams from eight countries competed for gold, silver and bronze level status.

Gold, silver and bronze awards are awarded to teams that achieve scores in specific ranges in each awards level. Teams are evaluated in part in Live Case Study Sessions at WCQI, at which teams demonstrate real-life applications of quality and its benefits to organizations and their customers.

The Sullair Argentina team demonstrated how they increased rental fleet availability to drive down labor costs and increase revenues using Lean Six Sigma.

The team never expected to win at this year’s awards, according to Industrial Process Monitor Marcelo Pisner, who said the team hoped to learn from the experience and other teams in the annual competition.

“I can’t believe this,” Pisner said. “This is incredible. We hope to replicate this process in other areas of the business, and this validation will help us convince our leaders of the importance of the work.”

Other teams recognized at the annual awards include:

  • Silver: Sime Darby Plantation Sdn. Bhd., Blue Ocean team, Malaysia
  • Bronze: Jabil Circuit, Jabil Wuxi Quality team, China
  • Bronze: Jabil Circuit, Nypro Shanghai Finance team, China
  • Bronze: Max Life Insurance Company Limited, Improve 7 Calendar Day TAT for Policy Servicing team, India

Since 1985, thousands of teams worldwide have participated in this team recognition process. Organizations such as Alcoa, Anheuser-Busch, Bayer, Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Johnson Controls, and Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company have showcased proven results with long-term implications, resulting in cost savings of billions of dollars.

Next year’s International Team Excellence Award Process final round will be held at ASQ’s 2018 World Conference on Quality and Improvement April 30–May 2, 2018, in Seattle, Wash. Intent to submit forms for the 2017–18 award cycle are due July 1.
