So, ghee sometimes acts as a carrier of medicine inside the body,” said Mr Nandkishor Attal, Chairman and Managing Director of Vaishno Devi Dairy Products Pvt. Ltd.

Ghee is an essential element in Indian cooking. It is not only used instead of oil in some dishes, it is also poured over various food items to enhance the flavour as well. Pure cow’s milk ghee has medicinal values and healing properties. It is also used in Ayurvedic medicines to cure digestion and contains Omega 3 and Omega 9 essential fatty acids as well as nutrients such as vitamins A, D, E and K.

“Shubhi Ghee has a high smoke point of 375 degrees Fahrenheit, which means that it does not lose its nutrition even if cooked at a temperature as high as 375 degrees. It is thus ideal for cooking. Consumption of ghee is also known to make hair lustrous and the skin glow.” Mr Attal added.

Moreover, scientists from the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) have reported in the latest issue of the Indian Journal of Medical Research that, cow’s milk ghee enhances the availability of enzymes responsible for detoxification of cancer-causing substances and decreases the availability of those enzymes responsible for the activation of carcinogens.

Apart from the benefits of ghee in our diet, ghee also renders useful in other ways:

  • Massaging over gums & teeth to make them stronger.
  • Cow ghee consumed with warm milk before sleeping helps strengthen nerves and lubricates the intestines.
  • Applying ghee on skin acts as a moisturizer. One can apply a few drops of ghee on the face and hands at night, especially during winter to keep the skin glowing and hydrated.
  • Ghee can also be applied on heat burns as it soothes burns
  • Cow’s milk ghee is also a good source of iodine hence it helps combat thyroid dysfunction

All of these facts essentially lead to cow’s milk ghee playing an important role in our daily lives.
