DEV Systemtechnik & Sumavision enter a partnership to support European cable network operators with Remote-MACPHY systems for distributed CCAP network topologies.

Friedberg, May 22, 2019: DEV Systemtechnik has been appointed as the exclusive sales partner of distributed CCAP solutions to major MSOs in most European countries in 2019 by Chinese manufacturer Sumavision. The DOCSIS 3.1 compatible Remote-MACPHY devices help European MSOs, to drastically enhance their networks and to benefit from distributed access architectures (DAA).

Sumavision has been providing comprehensive solutions for DOCSIS standard-based cable networks under the subsidiary Topvision since 2012. Topvision has recently developed a D-CCAP solution further enhancing coaxial network access performance. The distributed CCAP node is a feature-rich, high end cable network edge system supporting all applications including internet, voice, VOD and broadcast CATV.

With a Remote-MACPHY MSOs benefit from a D-CCAP architecture in which MAC and PHY functions are no longer required to be located in the headend, but directly in the access node. This leads to several benefits such as better utilization of bandwidth, easy maintenance, more flexible architectures and scalability and an improved RF performance. The Topvision systems are agnostic to OLT / switch vendors which provide freedom to the operator to choose from a wide supplier base for the headend / uplink connection of the nodes. MACPHYs are available either in a 19″ indoor or in various sized outdoor housings, supporting DOCSIS 3.1, Euro- and US DOCSIS 3.0 /  2.0 and C-DOCSIS standards.

“We are very excited to partner with Sumavision, a major supplier for DOCSIS compliant cable network systems and contributor to DOCSIS standards” says Manfred Mettendorff, Managing Director of DEV Systemtechnik, “Sumavision products will complement DEV’s existing portfolio of analogue RF systems for head ends and allow cable network operators to take a smooth step into  next-generation DAA Networks”.

“We are looking forward to cooperating with DEV Systemtechnik. DEV is a German company with excellent quality. It has been adhering to the spirit of meticulous and efficient craftsmanship in Germany.” says Ru Jigang, the CEO of Sumavision, “We hope that with the help of DEV, Sumavision products are able to serve European MSOs better and faster.”

The Systems will be showcased on the DEV Booth (Hall 8, #N9) on the ANGA Conference on June 4th to 6th in Cologne, Germany.
