Get ready to celebrate this milestone with a series of events to honor his legacy

Jaipur, October 02, 2019: Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on 2Oct every year but this year is a special year as October 2 will be the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. To mark this historic occasion, Gandhi Saptah will be celebrated across the state from 2 to 9 October to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony will be Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot. He will also address the events of 2nd Oct as Chief Guest.

Events on 2nd Oct 2019

·        Programme on Gandhi MurtiIsthal – Gandhi Circle from 08:30am onwards

·        Gandhi Utsav at Central Park from 12noon onwards

·        Bhajan Sandhya and Sarod Vadan by UstadAmjad Ali khan at central park from 06:30pm onwards

 

Department of Art and Culture & Department of Tourism along with other departments scheduled the week long celebrations at state, district and block level to spread the teachings and beliefs of Gandhi. Seminars and panel discussions, Gandhi expo, khadi mela and pradarshini, bhajansandhya are scheduled to happen in Jaipur and are free for public to attend. Entry to heritage show and theatre is by invite only.

·        Workshop of Women Self help group from 10:30 am onwards

·        Khadi Sanghoshthi from 03pm onwards

·        Theartre – BharatBhagyaVidhata from 7pm onwards

Gandhi Pradarshini and Khadi Mela to be held from 2nd Oct to 9th Oct at Jawahar kala Kendra,shilp gram where more than 500 artisans and a large number of women artisans from Rajasthan will participate and display products for visitors.

·        Gandhi Heritage Show from 07pm onwards

Cultural programmes will be organised on the evening of 2nd, 3rd and 4th Oct. On 2nd Oct, bhajan Sandhya and sarod vadan will be held at central park. Gandhi heritage show organised by Prasad Bidapa who is world famous fashion stylist and fashion consultant will be presented on 3rd Oct. On 4thOct, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission will perform live on stageto present the character of Mahatma Gandhi with the play – BharatBhagyaVidhata.Bhakti Utsav organised by Seher Sansthan will held from 4thoct to 6thoct

The prime objective of this unique week- long celebration is to connect with the citizens of every age, especially youth to make them understand the relevance of Gandhi in contemporary times.
