Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, held its Nineteenth Annual Convocation on May 2, 2015. Shri Bibek Debroy, eminent Indian economist, professor and full-time member of NITI Ayog was the honorable Chief Guest on the occasion. Chairman, Shri Sharad Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Shri Shreevats Jaipuria, Director of the Institute, Prof. Ashraf M. Rizvi, the esteemed members of the Board of Governors and the Academic Council of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, graced the occasion and acknowledged the success and achievement of batch 2013-15.

Shri Sharad Jaipuria, Chairman, Board of Governors, Jaipuria Institute of Management, welcomed the Chief Guest and the distinguished congregation on the momentous occasion. Shri Jaipuria, while delivering his welcome address, extended his wishes to the students. He expressed hope that the graduating students will perform well in the business world and contribute to the prosperity of India and make their fraternity proud.

Prof. Ashraf M. Rizvi, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow highlighted the milestones achieved by the Institute during the academic year 2014-2015. He emphasized that the institute witnessed record placement in this year and organized six major convocations, including the 9th ‘Intergration, Independence and Co-Creation’ event, with its theme ‘Make In India’. He concluded by extending his best wishes to the graduating class and encouraged them to be goal-oriented and value based in their approach.

Chief Guest Shri Bibek Debroy, in his address, congratulated all the students. He spoke on the interdependent development of the government and the people of the nation. Speaking on education, he emphasized the need for an education system which encourages entrepreneurship and the need for transition from ‘licensing’ to ‘regulation’ in the system. He stated that learning is a continuous process of skill building. He bestowed his blessings on the students to ‘want what they get’ rather than ‘getting what they want’. He conveyed his best wishes to the graduating students and exhorted them to lead lives with humility. The Convocation Souvenir was also released on this occasion.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Jaipuria Institute of Management.

In all, 306 students successfully completed various programmes of the Institute this year. The programmes are: 2-year full-time PGDM, 2-year full-time PGDM (Financial Services), 2-year full-time PGDM (Retail Management) and 3-year part-time PGDM programmes. The diplomas were conferred on successful candidates by Shri Sharad Jaipuria, Chairman, Board of Governors of the Institute.

Meritorious students were awarded scholastic medals, for their outstanding performance, by the Chief Guest, Shri Bibek Debroy. In addition to various scholastic medals, a trophy to recognize ‘Student of the Year 2015’ was presented for exceptional scholastic performance in the various two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management programmes of the Institute. Nikita Mehra was awarded this trophy.

Nikita Mehra was awarded Chairman’s Gold Medal; Angita Bordoloi and Khushboo Jagtiani were awarded Vice Chairperson’s Silver Medal and Shoumi Bhattacharya was awarded Director’s Bronze Medal in Full-time PGDM Programme. Pooja Srivastava was awarded Chairman’s Gold Medal in Full-time PGDM (Financial Services) Programme. Sarvjeet Kumar Dubey was awarded Chairman’s Gold Medal in Full-time PGDM (Retail Management) Programme. Ananga Das was awarded Chairman’s Gold Medal in Part-time PGDM Programme. Certificates of Merit across all Full-Time PGDM programmes in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Retail Management and Operations were conferred on Nikita Singh Chauhan (Marketing), Krati Gupta (Finance), Angita Bordoloi (Human Resources), Sarvjeet Kumar Dubey and Manisha Singh (Retail Management) and Sankar Jyoti Baruah (Operations) respectively.

Distinguished Alumnus Award was conferred on three Alumnis. Mr. Anand Narain Kapoor, VC and Owner, Midcom Group, and Mr. Akash Kapoor,MD ,Midcom Group were presented with the Entrepreneurship Award. Mr. Anshumaal Dixit, Country head HR, Arvato – Bertelsmann, was awared for Corporate Excellence. Mr Vijay Goel, partner with Singhania group of companies was awarded for Notable Public Service.

Dr. Raj Kumar Ojha was felicitated with the Faculty Award.
