Bangalore’s 4th Inter-school Golf tournament kick started by Canadian International School

Bangalore, December 11, 2016: The Canadian International School, Bangalore, hosted the 4th Inter-school golf tournament at Prestige Golfshire (Nandi Hills) on 9th December. After hosting three successful tournaments, the 2016 edition of the competition witnessed a participation of 99 students from 36 schools across the city.

The competition was open to juniors with a handicap card of 24 or more between the ages of 6-18 years. The winner, Pranavi Urs, 13 years old from Mysore, is already no 2 in the all India ranking in her age group and has been participating in this tournament for the last 2 years. She walked away with the Championship Cup by 76 strokes. Celebrating her victory she added “Practise is the key to her success and events like these are a great way to nurture and provide a good platform to aspiring golfers like her”

In a country that is fascinated with cricket, tournaments like these bring about an interest in other sports amidst the younger generation. The promotion of such tournaments impart crucial skills of the game like strategizing, play etiquettes, and perseverance. Speaking at the event, Executive Director Shweta Sastri mentioned “Four years ago, we were the first school in Bangalore to pioneer an inter school golf event for students. It’s great to see that this tournament has become sought after amongst students over the years!”
