AICTE Runs A Programme of Employability Enhancement Training Programme

New Delhi, July 11, 2014 – The Union HRD Minister Smt Smriti Irani in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today stated that the following initiatives have been taken by the AICTE for employment enhancement:

(i) The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is running a programme of Employability Enhancement Training Programme (EETP) with BSNL to train students of Electronics & Communication in the training centres of BSNL. AICTE has also notified a regulation under National Employability Enhancement Mission (NEEM) to offer on- the- job practical training to enhance employability of a person either pursuing his or her graduation/diploma in any technical or non-technical stream or have discontinued studies of degree or diploma course to increase their employability.

(ii) Under the Regulation notified by the AICTE, the designated stakeholders may conduct a Community college /Vocational Education Courses in existing AICTE approved Polytechnics or conduct a Community Colleges/Vocational Education Courses in colleges recognized by the Central Statutory Body and /or affiliated by the University or the State Board of Technical Education. The State Governments have been asked to institutionalize National Educational Qualification Framework (NVEQF) and several workshops at National and State level have been conducted to sensitise the stakeholders towards NVEQF. The NVEQF has now been superseded by the notification of unified skill framework namely the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India on 27.12.2013.

(iii) The AICTE has also developed the model curriculum of management, pharmacy, architecture and town planning courses at degree level and engineering courses at diploma level to address the industry requirements and to enhance the employability. CCI Newswire
