Arhan Bagati, an 11th Standard student of The Shri Ram School, with the help of the para-athletes, is the face behind the conceptualization of the App.
Given the apathetic scenario of para-sports in our country where there are virtually no facilities for the differently abled athletes, the development of the ‘InRio’ app shows hope and promise. The broad aim behind the development of the ‘InRio’ is to help the differently abled people to live life to the fullest. The para-athletes participating in the Rio Paralympics games 2016 shall have access to essential information like Diet and Nutrition with inputs from professional nutritionists to optimize sporting performance, Comprehensive list of Disabled-friendly gyms, list of people to call in case of emergencies and various other extra benefits.
The para-athletes have played a significant role in the development of ‘InRio’ App. The App has been designed by giving a closer and meticulous look towards the issues and needs of the athletes. The athletes have been constantly interviewed over the course of the development of the App.
Dr. Najeeb Jung, Lieutenant Governor, Delhi termed this as an exemplary achievement by Arhan. He said, “InRio app is a great initiative by Arhan to provide a thrust to the development and promotion of Para sports in India. It will not only help in bringing the Indian para athletes and fans together but also protect their interests. India certainly needs more and more participants to step forward and represent their country at international level.”
Congratulating Arhan Bagati on the launch, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State (IC) for Sports and Youth Affairssaid, “This is indeed a great day for Indian sports. Our athletes, all of them, need to be supported by every Indian. This is what will fuel their desire to excel and bring more honour to the country.”
Besides the essential features, InRio app shall also boast of some extra features like a full Rio roadmap, a language translator to help sports people make new friends and an exhaustive list of cool places, Restaurants, museums etc.
The App has been universally designed to fulfill the needs of the differently abled people and the name of the App shall become ‘InTokyo’ for Tokyo Paralympics games in 2020. The App is available across Android and IOS platforms. ITC Group of hotels have also come in support by announcing them as the hospitality partners of the athletes.
