Ghaziabad, March 13, 2014 : Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja group flagship, commercially launched the BOSS inGhaziabad, today. The BOSS is an intermediate commercial vehicle (ICV) that seamlessly combines the strength and ruggedness of a truck with the comfort of a car. Manufactured at the Company’s largest, state-of-the-art plant in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, the BOSS is available in LE and LX variants. It is the perfect answer to the growing need for higher-productivity, high-performance vehicles in the ICV segment. It is being launched in the Haulage segment with 9.6T, 11.9Tand 12.9T GVW and will be priced between Rs. 10.5 Lakhs and 12 Lakhs depending on variants and load span. Vehicle keys were handed over to customers’ by senior officials from the Company.

With its European-design cab and indigenous driveline, the BOSS offers world-class quality at Indian cost. The BOSS sets many industry-firsts – it comes with a best-in-class service interval of 40,000 kms, a hydraulic power steering system, a best-in-classturning radius of 15.3 mtrs, a 3-year anti-perforation warranty for the cabin and a5-year replacement guarantee on the rear LED lights. It has undergone 11,00,000 kms on road trials and 24,00,000 kms of endurance testing.

The BOSS also offers features and comforts that will set benchmarks in the commercial vehicle industry. An ergonomically designed dashboard withintelligently placed controls and multi-angle adjustable seats ensures fatigue-free drive. The steering column comes with tilt-able and telescopic movements and a 2-point suspended cabin provides a comfortable ride on the roughest of roads. The hydraulic cab-tilt mechanism helps tilt the cab with minimum effort and allows easy access for easier maintenance.
The BOSS comes in 2 variants – the LE and LX.
The BOSS LE is fitted with a 120 HP H-series BS3 engine with an in-line fuel injection pump – an industry first – and a 6-speed overdrive gearbox that delivers superior mileage.
The BOSS LX has another industry-first – an Automated Manual Transmission – that eliminates the need for clutch operation and gear-shifting. The AMT will deskill the driving while offering consistent and superior fuel efficiency along with better driver comfort. Equipped with a powerful 130 HP common rail engine, the LX comes with factory-fitted air-conditioning. The Company will deliver the vehicles to its customers with ‘Zero’ Km reading through the truck-on-truck transportation mode to ensure quality. To strengthen accident support, the Company has set up new Cab repair facilities at select authorised dealer and service outlets. This will allow customers to get their cabs repaired quickly and cost efficiently. Dealers can order spare parts online through an electronic parts catalogue so that the parts reach customers faster and more efficiently.
