New Delhi, Feb 20, 2015: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has won the International Aerospace Award (2015) for ‘Innovation’.
Mr Vipin Katara, General Manager (Strategic Planning), BEL, received the award on behalf of BEL from Dr K Tamilmani, DS & DG (Aero), DRDO; at the awards function organised at Bengaluru on February 17, 2015. The International Aerospace Award has been instituted by the International Aerospace magazine to recognise excellence in innovation, indigenous technology and entrepreneurship in the Indian aerospace & Defence industry.
Innovation is engrained in BEL’s work culture. It is a part of the motto of the Company: Quality. Technology. Innovation. BEL is setting up a Product Development & Innovation Centre at its Bengaluru Complex to address technology gaps. The centre will accommodate over 800 engineers and be equipped with all the design, prototyping, testing, automated assembly and other high-end manufacturing facilities.
To promote innovative thinking among the employees, Innovation Week is celebrated at BEL’s Bengaluru Complex in the month of November.
