Hanumanthaiah, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha along with the guests of Honour Shri. Doddanarasiah Ganesh, Former Indian Cricketer, Dr. K. C. Raju Reddy and Shri K. C. Jagannath Reddy, Trustee and Secretary of CMR Jnanadhara Trust.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. L. Hanumanthaiah, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, said, “I am very happy to know that CMR Group distributes scholarships to deserving students to the tune of Rs. 80-90 lakhs every year. Not just in academics, they are also honouring sports persons-which is a crucial step to encourage sports in our country. I have an appeal to the private universities that while providing education, do not forget merit and social justice. This country has been running on disparity for ages. We haven’t given equal opportunities to all sections of the society. Hence, I appreciate private universities like CMR which are outreaching and challenging government universities in terms of teaching, infrastructure and is also providing scholarships to students based on merit and economic background. Real education is beyond text books-one which teaches you to be a good citizen, who has compassion and one who gives back to the society.”

He added, “I would request people who have engaged themselves in the education sector to take care of students who are underprivileged. If we don’t take care of them, nobody else will. CMR University is one of the best institutions in Bengaluru and our city is the hub of education and healthcare, where people come from all over the country.”

Chief Guest Shri. C. S. Puttaraju, Hon’ble Minister for Minor Irrigation, Water Resource Department, Government of Karnataka, said “It is heartening to see CMR Group honouring the achievers of this generation and strengthening the future of our country.”

Chairman of CMR Group of Institutions & Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shri. K C Ramamurthy said, “Not just today, but right from the beginning we have had a commitment towards social justice. The scholarships we award are not just merit, but Merit-cum-Means scholarships, which we are giving to students who are from poor economic background and among them we identify students who have excelled in academics and sports after rigorously going through thousands of applications we receive every year.”

The event was also attended by CMR Family, Trustees, Board of Governors, Principals, Staff and Students of CMR Group of Institutions.
