Los Angeles, Jan 12, 2015:
– At the opening of 2015, darmstadtium – the high-tech convention center in Darmstadt, Germany, is reporting bookings for 2015 already seventeen percent higher than last year. The recent launch of the congress hall ferrum, a new 650 m2 multifunctional space which can accommodate up to 390 people may account for the early success, with sales expected to increase by an additional two percent this year.

Jochen Partsch, Darmstadt Mayor and chairman of the supervisory board of darmstadtium said, “Since the opening of the darmstadtium seven years ago, 1 million visitors have attended more than 2,000 events. The congress center always has sustainability in mind and this eco-friendly approach lives within the organization’s operations, which in 2014 resulted in winning the award for best Office Environment/ most sustainable office in Germany.

“Last year was very successful, with the darmstadtium achieving record sales. The new hall “ferrum” offers a unique space with the latest multimedia technology that sets new standards. Even now darmstadtium, thanks to this innovation, is the fastest congress center in Germany. Developments such as these show that the darmstadtium provides excellent conditions for conducting events.

“I am sure that the success of 2014, with the many innovative products introduced along the way will be surpassed in the New Year. I therefore thank all those involved for their hard work and look forward to the exciting sequel to this Darmstadt success story,” added Mayor Jochen Partsch.

Since the conference center opened seven years ago, turnover has increased by 50% and the operating result by almost 80%. However at the same time the consumption of energy and CO2 emissions have steadily decreased and resulted in a total saving of 6,000 tons of carbon emissions. The photovoltaic system on the roof of the darmstadtium, commissioned in 2007, has produced nearly 500,000 kWh of energy contributing significantly to this achievement.

In 2015, darmstadtium is pursuing clear goals for environmental protection and resource conservation. To further reduce the property’s carbon footprint current contracts with locally based green electricity provider Entega will continue. Also, the goal of CO2-neutral travel will come closer to being a reality with congress participants travelling via public transport such as local bus and trams (Heag Mobilo) or rail (Deutsche Bahn AG). For those commuting by electric car, vehicles can be recharged with green electricity at onsite electric filling stations. This service is provided free of charge. E-bikes are also available for hire at the congress center.Forimmediaterelease.net
