Deepa Malik – First woman to win a medal at the Paralympics

New Delhi, January 19, 2018:An eminent sports personality, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee, Smt. Deepa Malik is India’s first female para-athlete to win a medal at the Paralympics (Rio, 2016). She has to her credit Asian record in the Javelin throw for five
consecutive years. She is also the first Indian paraplegic open-water swimmer, having swum across the Yamuna; a biker and a celebrated car rallyist who became the first Indian with paraplegia to hold an FMSCI (Federation Motor Sports Club of India) rally license & participate in the Raid de Himalaya, the highest rally raid in the world. Limca Book of Records recognises her for four distinctions in Adventure Sports.
