FIITJEE, the country’s premier institute for IIT-JEE training, will conduct a nation-wide examination on February 8 to select 40 underprivileged but highly meritorious students who will be groomed and tutored for free by the institution for entrance to India’s most reputed engineering colleges.

The “FORTUNATE 40” examination will be held across designated test centres in India for all students studying in class VIII and X, who aspire to make it to IIT-JEE in the year 2019 & 2017 respectively, but do not have the financial resources to afford an effective coaching institution.

The selected 40, who show potential for doing well in the field, will be taken under the wing of FIITJEE, an organization which sends a large number of students to IITs and other prestigious engineering colleges of India every year.

While students from a cross section of society aspire to make it to the IITs, it is not an easy exercise. Having the intellectual capability and potential is not enough as cracking JEE also requires a rigorous training and guidance. Students from economically less fortunate backgrounds often fail to avail the benefits of such coaching programmes.

Keeping in mind the aspirations of such students, FIITJEE being a social responsibility-conscious organization, designed the FORTUNATE 40 programme in 2008. It’s a program exclusively created to provide world-class training to serious students from financially weaker backgrounds and enthuse them to achieve their goal of success & top ranks in IIT-JEE and other competitive exams.

This program will select and financially support those capable students presently studying in class VIII (going to IX) & class X (going to XI) whose total parental income is below Rs.10, 000/- per month. FIITJEE will support these meritorious students in their preparation for achieving their dream goals by awarding 100% scholarships for FIITJEE programs & 100% waivers on hostel charges.

“Talent and potential is not exclusive to the elite sections of the society. Every child with potential should be given a level playing field in competition. IITs are India’s foremost intellectual institutions and the best talents from this cross section of society also deserve their due place in them. Our FORTUNATE 40 programme is designed to propel into the big league 40 such students who might get lost in absence of essential guidance and training. Over the past few years, many of these students nurtured by us have created new benchmarks of success and have made us immensely proud,” says Mr. R L Trikha, Director, FIITJEE.

The selection test will be conducted at the centres in Delhi (South Delhi, Punjabi Bagh, Dwarka & East Delhi), Delhi NCR (Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon & Noida), Amritsar, Anantapur, Bangalore, Bhilai, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bokaro, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dhanbad, Durgapur, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kalpakkamm, Kanpur, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kolkata, Kurnool, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Netarhat, Patna, Pune, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Shaktinagar NTPC, Trichy, Vadodara, Varanasi & Visakhapatnam.

The last date to apply for test is 1st February 2015 (Sunday) and there will be no registration fee for this selection test. To be eligible for the FORTUNATE 40 batch, students have to clear the individual subject cut-offs & also the grand total cut-off.CCI Newswire
