Finalists for the India NGO Awards 2014 – 15 Announced

Dr. Rajesh Tandon to felicitate winners of the India NGO Awards in the capital

New Delhi, July 14, 2015: The top 12 nominees for the India NGO Awards 2014 – 15 have finally been announced. The winners in each category will be felicitated by Dr. Rajesh Tandon, President, Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) on 24th July 2015 at the Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre.

The India NGO Awards are being organised by The Resource Alliance and sponsored by the EdelGive Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation to honour NGOs, who have been adopting good standards and practices while implementing their programmes.

Despite operating out of limited resources, these NGOs have been able to adhere to the highest standards of resource mobilisation, accountability and transparency in their day to day functioning thus setting an example worth emulating for other non-governmental and non-profit organisations.

The Finalists of the India NGO Awards 2014 – 15 are:

1. Category Small:

  • Centre for Unfolding Learning Potentials (CULP)
  • Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE)
  • Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF)
  • Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK)

2. Category Medium:

  • Agragamee
  • Saath Charitable Trust
  • V-Excel Educational Trust
  • Society for Rural Urban and Tribal Initiative(SRUTI)

3. Category Large:

  • The Akanksha Foundation
  • Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM)
  • LEPRA Society
  • CRY – Child Rights and You

The competition format addresses the ambition to make the awards accessible to NGOs across all causes and thematic areas, sizes and geography.

Applications were invited from all the regions of the country, and this year over 300 applications were received. These were evaluated by a team of independent assessors on the basis of the parameters of: effective and sustainable mobilisation of resources, the demonstration of efficient management of resources, good governance practices, transparency and accountability, and the impact of their work in bringing about tangible benefits to its target communities.

This year a new ‘Big Idea, Small Budget’ Award category was introduced for small and medium organisations rewarding a successful new fundraising idea or stream of revenue on a small budget introduced in the past 12-24 months.

The 12 finalists will present themselves to a panel of Jury on 23rd July 2015 who will select the winners. The winners from each category and Rising Star(s) awardee along with Big Idea, Small Budget Award will be announced during the Awards Ceremony. CCI Newswire
