First State Maharashtra State e-Governance Awards Distribution Function, Organised by Directorate of IT

Mumbai, May 03,2014 – 

On the auspicious occasion of Maharashtra Day on 1st May, 2014, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Prithviraj Chavan gave away the First State eGovernance Awards to the best eGovernance Projects in Maharashtra State in an event at Sahyadri Guest House, Mumbai. The award winners received a trophy and certificate of appreciation by Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra. A total of 17 winners who bagged Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze awards were selected from 119 nominations from various districts and departments in the State.

The award distribution function was organised at Sahyadri Guest House on 1st May 2014 at 11.00 am. Total 17 awards were given to different eGovernance Projects in 6 various categories. Special Platinum award was given to the project “Gharagharat Vishwakosh” which is a unique initiative of its kind and is the only Marathi encyclopedia available on the internet, which spreads knowledge in Marathi language. Award winners were selected through 3 months of rigorous selection process. The evaluation process witnessed nominations being submitted online by the nominees, followed by presentation before DIT over Video Conferencing facility. Based on the initial scrutiny, final presentation to the esteemed jury including Shri Jayant Banthia (ex-Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra), Dr. A. B. Pandey (DDG, UIDAI), Shri Rajesh Aggarwal (Principal Secretary IT), Shri Rajeev Vaishnav (Vice President Nasscom) and Prof. P. Pandya (Prof., TIFR). The evaluation committee reviewed all the presentations and finally recommended the list of winners.

During this function various eGovernance Applications like Lokrajya Mobile App, Mahanews Mobile App, HTML5 website of eGovernance Status which is responsive on various devices, new version of user friendly eOffice application, State Data Centre Services, capacity building programme, State Data Bank and various initiatives of CDAC-Center of Excellence etc. were also launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister.
