FKCCI Expresses its Concern in Not Completing the Railway Projects in Karnataka as per Schedule

FKCCI is unhappy that in spite of repeated and regular requests, at the time of budget, in last 4 years, the railway projects in Karnataka are yet to be completed.

Mr K.Shiva Shanmugam, Senior Vice President, FKCCI, particularly mentioned the following projects and urged the State and Central Governments to act in unison and complete them at the earliest to benefit the State’s Economy as well as its people.

Hubli – Ankola Railway line

This line, which is in planning for many years now, should be taken up at an express speed.

  • Electrification of Bangalore-Tumkur, Bangalore-Mysore
  • Doubling of track between Tumkur-Arsikere

To speed up the following works:

  • Almatti-Koppal, Bagalkot-kuduchi, Bidar-Gulbarga, Bangalore-Hassan, Doubling up to Berur on priority basis
  • To approve the link between Chamrajnagar-Mettupalya,Tumkur to Davangere via durga
  • To build a 2nd platform at Tumkur
  • Under the dedicated corridor North to South, Karnataka is to be included.
  • To provide high speed passenger rail corridor: Mumbai-Belgaum-Bangalore-Chennai
  • Streamlining the operations of ICDC at Hassan
  • Up gradation of Railway station in all districts to help the passengers.
  • To increase the budget allocation for speedy completion of Hassan-Bangalore railway line which would help increasing exports from Mangalore and other Coastal ports as well as increasing hinterland trade.
