New Delhi, 25 Mar, 2015:
Goa Institute of Management – widely regarded as one of the Top-20 B-schools in India –will be holding its 21st Annual Convocation on Saturday, March28th. 332 students would be graduating from Goa Institute of Management this year. Among the graduating pool are 48 students who will be a part of the first batch of the PGDM Healthcare Management Course (HCM) at GIM. “I am happy to see our students going out into the world as responsive and responsible leaders. The two years’ learning I believe must have made a significant difference in their lives and I am hopeful that they will make a difference in the lives of people,” said Fr. Joe Arun, Director, Goa Institute of Management, confirming the date of convocation.

Dr. Hasit Joshipura, Managing Director, Executive Director and Member of Investors/Shareholders Grievance Committee, Glaxo-SmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited, will be delivering the Convocation Address as the Chief Guest.

The 21stconvocation ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.at the sprawling Sanquelim campus of the Goa Institute of Management, and the convocation procession will enter the Multi-Purpose Hall of GIM. Invitees have been advised to be seated by 4.50 p.m.to ensure that the ceremony goes according to the set schedule. After the invocation, Fr. Joe Arun, Director, GIM, will present the Director’s Report. The Awarding of Diplomas and Medals and the Valedictory Speech will follow. This will give way to the Convocation Address by Dr. Hasit Joshipura.

GIM placements has gathered a lot of notice this year, with more than 40% of the graduates landing packages of more than 9 Lakhs per annum. A number of companies have recruited with a package well in double digits. Prominent recruiters include JP Morgan, HCL, Cognizant, HDFC, eClerx, HSBC, Wipro Technologies, Infosys, Deloitte, and KPMG.

GIM broke into the Outlook top-20 rankings last year (19th), and the institute climbed a phenomenal 18 places to break into the top-25 of Business Today rankings in just 2 years (Ranked 42 in 2011, and ranked 24 in 2013). It is also amongst the ‘Top 25’ in the rankings published by The Week. This has been one of the reasons why GIM has attracted an impressive talent pool of students over the years. GIM’s recent rise to the Top 20 rankings in the last couple of years can also be attributed to infrastructure, since most of the prestigious rankings take into account the infrastructural setup of a management institute. In 2010, GIM moved from the Ribandar area of Goa, to a new state-of-the-art campus located at Sanquelim. This new campus is located on a sprawling 50-acre plot surrounded by the idyllic foothills of the Western Ghats. To say the least, this leads to a learning environment that is conducive to a high-quality education. On one hand, the natural beauty is relaxing and offers the students a good atmosphere for their education; on the other hand, GIM uses this new infrastructural setup to ensure the best education that an institute can offer.CCI Newswire
