Mumbai, June 05, 2017: Godrej Appliances, a leading player in the home appliances segment, joined hands with Godrej Nature’s Basket to mark this year’s World Environment Day.
Celebrated on June 5th, the theme this year was ‘Connect People to Nature’, aimed at sensitizing individuals about the importance of protecting the environment by emphasizing our dependence on nature and urging us to rekindle our connection with the natural world around us.
Accordingly, Godrej appliances came up with a ‘seed paper bag’, which was embedded with seeds that consumers can sow, tend to and grow, thereby fostering a connection between them and nature.
The bags were handed out to shoppers at Godrej Nature’s Basket stores across India on June 5th 2017 on all purchases worth Rs. 2,000 and above

Sustainability and green are fast emerging as the reigning buzzword across corporate lobbies. There is increasing pressure on every manufacturer to “Go Green” – more often than not, owing to regulatory compulsions. However, Godrej Appliances has been leading the Green technology revolution in this industry.
Godrej Appliances has delivered some of the greenest and most environment-friendly products in the world to the consumers. It was the first brand in India to offer an entire range of 100% Green refrigerators, i.e CFC- HCFC- and HFC, way back in 2002. In fact, Godrej Appliances phased out these Ozone depleting refrigerants voluntarily, under the Montreal protocol and replaced them with natural hydrocarbon based refrigerants. In 2012, Godrej also launched India’s first Green AC with the greenest refrigerant-R290 which has zero Ozone Depletion Potential and lowest Global Warming Potential. In March 2017, Godrej Appliances launched India’s most power saving green inverter AC with 5.8 ISEER.
Both its manufacturing units at Shirwal and Mohali – were the first and continue to be the only manufacturing units in the industry to be honored with the coveted Platinum GreenCo certification for their efforts in Green manufacturing by CII.
