Mumbai, September 02, 2016: With the central theme “Enhancing India’s Competiveness ” for the year 2016-17,Mr. Deepak Premnarayen President, Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) has formed a committee of experts, one of them beingSmart Cities and Infrastructure Committee headed by Mr. Hari Sankaran, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd, who has planned Infrastructure Conference Series wherein the first conference begins with “Indian Railways – A Trillion Dollar Opportunity”, scheduled to be held on Saturday, 3rd Sept 2016 at Four Seasons Hotel, Worli, Mumbai.

With the current developments taking place in the Indian Railways, like the Ministry assigning highest importance to the eradication of corruption and emphasizing on improving transparency, efficiency and productivity in the functioning of Indian Railways, with the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approving nine projects worth crores for expansion of railway network and railways eyeing superior technology like vacuum tubes and Hyperloop, the Indian Railway is focusing on improving its overall image and thereby making it a precious asset of the nation.

Shri Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways,will deliver keynote inaugural address as the Chief Guest for the conference. Dr. Bibek Debroy, Member Niti Aayog and Shri Deepak Parekh, Chairman HDFCLimited will be the Guests of Honor. Theconference is aimed at understanding Indian Railways’ contribution in economic progress and inter–economic linkages.

The deliberations in the conference will provide a platform to showcase the initiatives undertaken by the govt.and will aim to highlight the reforms and programs, with a focus on opportunities for the private sector. The Conference includes discussion on enhancing availability, quality and financing of the infrastructure projects, policy and regulatory issues and environment, sustainability and safety aspects. There will be special emphasis given to role of MSME, employment generation and skill enhancement. The conference will feature the panel discussions:
