“Karnataka is all set to introduce India’s first policy on animation and gaming soon,” reveals M N Vidyashankar, Principal Secretary to Information Technology Department, Karnataka Government. The development is in the wake of increasing growth opportunities within the animation and gaming industry. He said details about the policy would be divulged during the fourth edition of “Bangalore IT.biz” which will be organised in Bengaluru in October. The discussions on the policy would be taken to the union IT and Telecommunication ministry to be tabled in the Parliament. Currently the animation industry constitutes 30 per cent Information Technology and 70 per cent creativity.
The Association of Bangalore Animation Industry is currently working on the draft of the policy. The state is expecting participation from 25 states across India focused on the theme “India Innovates”. Talking about the event, Vidyashankar said, “The three-day event would comprise multi-track conferences, an international exhibition, a CEO conclave and IT Quiz for students.”
