Ahmedabad, Dec 13, 2014: KPMG in India in association with CII today organised an event which aimed at providing a ‘CFO’s Perspective’ on recent tax policy updates.
The presentation at the event focused on the recent issues and challenges faced by the industry in the area of tax policy. The keynote speaker at the event was Mr. K R Meghwal, IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax – 4, Ahmedabad. In addition, the session was graced by speakers from the industry, judiciary and experts from KPMG in India.
Present at the event Girish Vanvari, Co-Head of Tax, KPMG in India said “the number of changes happening in the tax and regulatory field are unparallel across the world including in India. It is very important to understand the threats and the opportunities these changes create on businesses. Further it will be interesting to see as to how many more bold changes will be implemented ahead like implementing of GST, further liberalization of FDI policy, deferment of GAAR, undoing of retrospective amendments and implementing of BEPS”.
The half day deliberations dwelled upon issues and challenges related to M&A tax, indirect tax and Goods and Services Tax (GST). The forum also touched upon the latest developments in transfer pricing and APA, along with practices that can be adopted by industries.
