Mumbai, February 27, 2016: In a step ahead enabling customer’s convenience, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation and MEP RGSL Toll Bridge Pvt. Ltd has launched ETC Tag Online Re-charge facility for the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link Toll users. Honorable Minister Shri Eknathji Shinde, Minister for Public Works (Public Undertaking), Government of Maharashtra launched this new service today for the Bandra-Worli Sea Link commuters.

The online re-charge facility will help existing Sea Link ETC lane users to re-charge their RFID tags using the MEP website or through Citrus Wallet, where the website is directly linked with the payment gateway. The ETC Lane users can re-charge anytime, sitting at their home or office. The re-charge can be made using their Credit Card, Debit Card and Net banking option reducing cash transactions and enabling better transparency in the Toll plaza operations. The ETC tag or RFiD card E-recharges are available for the Value-based, Monthly Pass and Journey based travel. All the three types of ETC tags are pre-paid options for the commuters. The Value based ETC tag, launched recently, is suitable for the customers expecting better flexibility with their commute.

On this new initiative, Shri. R.L. Mr.Jayant Mhaiskar, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, MEP Infrastructure Developers Ltd said, “A first time user just needs to visit the Sea Link Toll Plaza Office with his vehicle only once to purchase, validate and activate the ETC tag. Once activated, the tag can be stuck on the windscreen of the vehicle. All subsequent recharges can now be done at the convenience of a commuter’s homes.”

“Our association with MEP is a big step towards Citrus’ goal of a cashless society. We continue to innovate in the transport sector by adding toll payments as a new category in digital payments. Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link is the pilot project which will pave the way for Citrus & MEP to work together to bring digital payment facility to all their toll plazas. We want to eliminate cash completely even if it is really a micro payment. It is indeed a proud moment for us that we are able to drive the cashless wave in the country through such unique partnerships” said Jitendra Gupta, founder & MD, Citrus Pay.

The Value based ETC tags include the feature to automatically determine Return or Daily journey on the basis of the journey time. The Value based ETC customers will be able to use ETC lanes at the plaza for their journey without getting hassled to produce counter foil for the Return or Daily journey, saving valuable time and effort. The ETC lane system will automatically calculate the type of the journey i.e. single, return or daily and deduct appropriate amount as per the Toll fee Notification, on the basis of the “journey time” within the day. The day is considered up to 12 midnight as per the Toll fee notification. The recharge will be valid till the implementation of revised toll rates or usage of all the trips whichever is earlier.
