An organic lunch, outdoor activities and a World Cup T20 match screening keep the spirits high while promoting the message of environment conservation
Gurgaon, March 27, 2016: Switching off from work found a new meaning for PepperTap employees. The hyperlocal grocery delivery service celebrated the Earth Hour 2016 in its office on March 19 with the employees enjoying a host of activities through the day. The workforce sampled a healthy, organic lunch and later watched the India Pakistan cricket match together at the office. PepperTap also urged its employees to be part of the cyclothons and walkathons that happened across cities, which was received with great enthusiasm.
Talking about the initiative, Navneet Singh, CEO PepperTap said, “We believe in creating a healthy work culture, both literally and metaphorically. To show our solidarity towards the cause of adverse climate change, we decided to support Earth Hour by switching off the lights. This was followed by the India Pakistan match screening to build a sense of camaraderie and team spirit, while conserving energy by watching the match together. As a start-up, we are constantly thinking of employee engagement policies and this was one of the many. Earth Hour or no, we are all about cutting wasteful energy use and will continue to do so in the future as well.”
The workforce enjoyed the initiative in all its glory by coming out in full force to enjoy the lights-out phase. The timing of the Earth Hour coinciding with the India-Pak World Cup T20 match was a great win-win. PepperTap upheld the spirit of the theme of the Earth Hour: ‘Bat for the Planet #switchoff’ by coming together and cheering the men in blue. “The high voltage cricketing action was the perfect counterfoil to the Earth Hour’s lightless phase,” added Navneet.
