New Delhi, Feb 24, 2015: The upcoming budget, the government’s Make in India initiative is right in the spotlight and on top of everyone’s mind. The budget will make or break the enthusiasm and confidence that economical India is placing in the Modi-Government. Along with inviting MNC’s to come and manufacture in India, there is great hope and expectation that MSME’s – which play a huge role in the economic development of India’s towns and villages – will also be given a massive boost.

Lubeina Shahpurwala, co-director of Mustang Socks and Accessories, a pioneer in the Indian Hosiery and Socks industry, shares her thoughts on behalf of what the MSME sector expects from this budget.

“The new government is on the right path with Make in India, but I just hope that the idea is carried forward with concrete steps in the upcoming budget. The budget should boost the domestic SME’s and encourage their growth. MSME’s account for nearly 45% of the national GDP, and that figure can increase significantly with the right changes. Basic infrastructure facilities being put in place, emphasis on advanced technology and ease of financial opportunities are the key points that the budget must address. Another important facet will be the swift and effective implementation of the GST. All in all it is an exciting budget, which I hope will concentrate first and foremost on the real economic India – the MSME’s in India’s towns and villages.” – Lubeina Shahpurwala, Co-director, Mustang Socks.CCI Newswire
