Bangalore November 21, 2013: Sri R Shivakumar, President, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has been nominated to the executive council of the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) as the Industry nominee by the Governor and Chancellor of the State’s universities H R Bhardwaj.
The inclusion of the Industry representative in the executive council will give the industry representatives to bridge the gap between the University education and Industry expectation.
Generally Universities aim to excel in academics by giving basic academic knowledge but Industry expects the incumbent to be productive from day one and to have an update knowledge on Industry.
By having an industry representation in the University will help the University to have an on the spot assessment of the requirements of Industry and on the up-gradation of skills as required by the Industry. This will help the Universities to change their syllabi in tune with the aspirations and requirements of Industry.
The Industry can also give its expert advice to the Universities and thereby facilitate more effective employment, empowerment and entrepreneurship. CCI newswire
