Bangalore November 28, 2013: A communication design graduate from IIT Guwahati, Rahul has always had addressing “users and their needs” at the center of any task that he has undertaken. Be it his stints with IBM or as a product manager at Proteans (now acquired by Symphony Teleca) or more recently with Utile Software Solutions, a ‘UX focussed’ Outsourced Software Product Development firm that he had co-founded in 2008 and was its CEO till the end of 2012.
OCradle, a kids’ furniture brand is certainly an extension of his above mentioned working methodology where each and every product is thoughtfully designed to cater to the specific needs of kids of varied age-groups.
In the times when there is a clear lack of innovation in the furniture world of India (more so in the kids’ furniture segment) and all that seems to matter is the ‘imported finish’ in the products, OCradle is bringing in unmatched creativity, multi-functionality and great aesthetical values in its products.
Coming from a non-furniture industry, Rahul spent close to 9 months before founding OCradle in understanding various intricacies of furniture Industry including the best practices which now are actively exercised at OCradle.
OCradle’s 1st invention, a forward motion cradle called Lulla is ‘design patented’ and had won YourStory.com’s e-Sparks 2013 event in February. It is now pediatrician recommended and is getting great reviews from parents of newborns.
OCradle’s journey started in early 2013 with Lulla, India’s 1st forward motion cradle that has come to be known as the ‘magic wand’ when it comes to putting babies to a comfortable sleep. Pediatrician recommended, this cradle’s contemporary design and multi-functionality has won it many a fans all over India.
By March, 2014, OCradle plans to add exceptional designs in baby cribs and beds segments too while they continue to innovate and strengthen their position as ‘the differentiator’ in the cradles and study/activity tables segments in India. OCradle soon plans to introduce customized options of its products to play-schools, once the new line is launched. They also plan to intensify their presence both online and offline, also setting up their own distribution network across India is in the book.
OCradle is essentially focused on making good quality furniture with a good finish which will last long. Most of their products are designed with a focus on reusability so the furniture can be reused after the intended use of the furniture is completed
Their go-to-market approach includes their ties with various kids care hospitals, major retailers (offline & online) and distributors across India while they will also be focused on sales through their website at www.OCradle.com. CCI Newswire
