RSLDC Gets on IISC network
Jaipur, July 11, 2020: Those aspiring for a job overseas will now be able to acquire skills through the Rajasthan government’s Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC). The state skill development corporation has been listed in the India International Skill Centre (IISC) network of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) enabling it to acquire information on specific worker demands of different countries and impart required skills accordingly to the aspiring applicants. RSLDC is now in process to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU), Centre of Excellence in Plastic Technology, and Centre of Excellence for Tourism Training to offer a wide variety of such skill courses.
“It is a development highly favourable for youth of Rajasthan aspiring to work abroad, the state government is making all efforts to ensure better work and skill opportunities for them,” said Dr Neeraj K Pawan, secretary to the government of Rajasthan for labour, Employment, Skill and ESI.
Skilling of youths and livelihood for all, has been among top priorities of Rajasthan’s chief minister Ashok Gehlot and RSLDC’s inclusion on IISC opens new avenues in this direction. Officials at the corporation are now in process to prepare database of the country specific work requirement and skill evaluation criteria. In accordance to the available opportunities the RSLDC will ask the training partners to draft skill courses and invite the aspiring workers for the same. Though the NSDC has planned it to be a ‘fee based’ model, the RSLDC is considering options to subsidize the skill training courses.
A provision for such training and placement opportunity by the state government is likely to benefit thousands of workers from the state that migrate to other countries for job purposes. It will be especially beneficial to the unskilled and semiskilled workers who will now be able to skill themselves in accordance to the work requirement. There will also be provision for up-skilling of those already employed abroad.
RSLDC is already a ‘Recruitment Agency’ authorised by the Ministry of External Affairs for overseas placement of workers and provides pre-departure orientation training to the workers requiring ‘Emigration Clearances’.
