Routes2Roots introduces India’s First interactive digital learning of Performing Arts “ Virsa “

New Delhi, August 03, 2016: To preserve and promote India’s rich cultural heritage and legacy of performing arts, Delhi based NGO Routes2Roots in association with ministry of Culture; Govt of India has launched India’s largest interactive digital learning of performing arts, titled VIRSA at Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Hon’ble Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minster of state for Culture and Tourism,(Independent charge) Govt. of India inaugurated the program in presence of Mr. Alok Kumar Verma, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Kathak Maestro, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Famous Sitarist Pandit Devabrata Chaudhury, Shri K. K. Sharma, DG- BDF and many more.

VIRSA is an exclusive platform which gives free digital learning classes of Indian culture and music to children across India and brings Indian art, music and culture together under one roof. Periodically workshops and lectures in each genre shall be delivered by renowned artists & Legends like Kathak Maestro, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Internationally acclaimed Violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, Noble Singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kathak Danseuse Shovna Narayan, Singer Shafquat Amanat Ali, Bollywood Diva Juhi Chawla, Famous Music Composer & Guitarist Ehsaan Noorani and Surinder Lal Malik, Eminent Poet & Patron R2R.

Now children will be exposed to the cultural legacy in addition to academics thereby completing their outlook as a balanced individual.”

This project is launched for the entire country but so far initially schools from J&K, Himachal Pradesh Uttrakhand, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat have been equipped and the rest are under implementation and soon the entire country will be covered by VIRSA.

VIRSA has 10 different genres of Indian classical Music and Dance like Hindustani Clasical Vocal, Tabla, Harmonium, Carnatic Classical Vocal and Carnatic Violin, Guitar, Key Board, Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Theater, in the 5 days schedule two cultural activities each day will be the part of curriculum. Classes will be started by August 8, 2016 and given to the students of all classes who will get the opportunity to interact with board of advisors and renowned teachers in each field, we are providing free equipment to each school and covering three main aspects of the government like; Digital India, Skill Development and Swatch Bharat Campaign under the project VIRSA
