Shilpotsav 2013 – Economically Empowering the Underprivileged

Noida Nov 4,2013: Shilpotsav 2013, the annual fair of artisans from across the country, belonging to the weaker sections of the society, began at Dilli Haat here today.

Craftsmen/entrepreneurs whose products will be on exhibit/sale in ‘Shilpotsav” are beneficiaries of National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation, National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation, National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation, National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation and National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation & Multiple Disabilities.

 

The response of last six Shilpotsavs has been very encouraging. The artisans expressed happiness that they have got place to sell and display their products. This year more artisans are getting opportunity to sell and display their art and they hoped that this year too, a large number of visitors, buyers and exporters will place orders and buy products from Shilpotsav during the festival season.

National Institute of Social Defence, New Delhi, National Institute of Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad, DDU Institute for the Physically Handicapped, New Delhi, AYJ National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai, National Institute for Rehabilitation Training & Research, Cuttack, National Institute for Orthopedically Handicapped, Kolkata, Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, New Delhi, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation, Kanpur are also participating in the Shilpotsav.

 

The range of products in this fair includes – silk sarees, readymade garments, dress material, Kashmiri shawls/stoles, hand embroidery, bead work, Tie & dye, durries, carpets, bags, rose wood, wood carving, wooden toys, wood artifacts, block painting, bamboo and cane products, jute work, dry flowers, imitation jewellery, pearls, dry fruits, honey and pickle products etc. CCI Newswire
