Bengaluru, August 13, 2017: Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology felt extremely proud to host the first signature event, ‘Design Lounge’ with ‘Association of Designers(ADI)’ curated by the alumni Ms Seema Seth yesterday evening at ‘The Srishti Collective 2017’ in Kings Court, Gate No 5, Palace Grounds, Jayamahal, Bengaluru. ADI team comprises of industrial and graphic designers, forming a single entity that represents design in India that benefits the designer community and stand out as a world-class networking designer community. Faculty, students and alumni of Srishti with distinguished design professionals mostly from Bengaluru had mentally stimulating interactive sessions on designs, social enterprise and impact enterprise for more than two hours.
‘Design Lounge’ aims to constantly engage the academia, industry and working professionals in relation to how design affects life for the benefit of designer community in India. Various aspects of designs, content and academics were given due importance in the discussion focusing on designers who live out of mainstream.
Interestingly, different aspects of creative manufacturing were also discussed highlighting the need and importance of creative manufacturing course run by Srishti. The new course on creative manufacturing at the Srishti campus teaches and mentor students on entrepreneurship and business, production and merchandising in addition to design.
Dr Geetha Narayanan, Founder-Director Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology said, ‘Design Lounge had talks on the creative economy by practising designers. We felt proud to announce the ‘Bir Award’ won by the student, Ms Priya Dali, Srishti’.
The award was presented by Ms Poonam Bir, daughter of Late Shri Bir. Ms Priya Dali felt elated to receive the award from Ms Poonam Bir. She was inspired by Ms Poonam Bir’s speech which had a strong connect to her project – Can I come home? It is an honour to receive the award, says the bright young student.
Another accomplished speaker and CEO, Mr Makarand Kulkarni, Director, Ether Design spoke about ‘Love of Design’ and how the design practice has been servicing the business requirements all the time. He emphasised the need for practising design with heart and soul to create new businesses and transform the existing businesses.
Another notable speaker Ms Runjhun Pacholi, CEO, IDIOM opined ‘Design understand things much more intuitively. The idea of measuring can be the bridge between business and design’. The event ends at a positive note.
