Suzlon Energy Limited, India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, announced a total cumulative order of 85 megawatts worth of wind turbine, totaling $107 million, from different business segments in India.

“India’s wind market is unique in its mix of consumers and we strive to meet the varied requirements of each of them. These orders reflect the confidence our customers have in our products and services,” said Tulsi R. Tanti, chairman and managing director of Suzlon in a statement released on August 10. The company said that the new orders are from a broad range of power supply units, small and medium business segments. Suzlon noted that more than 40 percent of these orders are repeat business from existing customers. Key customers include GAIL India Ltd., or Gas Authority of India Ltd., one of Asia’s leading gas utility company and a power supply unit of the government, which ordered 14.7 megawatts worth of wind turbines to be commissioned in Gujarat. This is the second wind energy project order placed by GAIL.
