“Telangana the role model state for entrepreneurship and innovation”, says dr. Jayesh ranjan

Hyderabad, March 20, 2016: ​​​​CII Telangana organized its Annual Meeting with a Conference on “Telangana Moving Forward through Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, here today.

Speaking at the inaugural session, DR. JAYESH RANJAN, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Electornics and Communication, Government of Telangana mentioned that Telangana has become the Role Model State for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He mentioned that Telangana Government is supporting the start-up ecosystem through various initiatives. “We are using Sand-box model to help develop rural entrepreneurship and the first initiative has been started in Nizamabad district as ‘_Kakatiya Sand Box’, which will encourage entrepreneurial ventures by rural youth which are socially beneficial. Such initiatives are making the state, start-up capital of India”, he said.

Dr. Ranjan also mentioned that three important trends are being observed that are changing the business ecosystem – Firstly, we are able to find solutions to every problem in the world; secondly, the breakthrough innovations and technologies are primarily coming from start-ups; and thirdly, the average age of start-up entrepreneurs has been coming down with more and more young individuals joining the start-up revolution.

DR. JAYARAMAN, Distinguished Scientist & Director, DRDL, in his special address, talked about partnership between industry and Defence laboratories, to work together for material development. He mentioned that the DRDO has decided to increase indigenous content for more than 60% for defence production and to involve private sector players towards achieving this target. Such initiatives will enhance innovative entrepreneurship.

The DRDL Director opined that the defence organizations are expecting to strengthen innovation ecosystem by partnering with various industries, especially young entrepreneurs and small and medium scale companies. “_Hyderabad has the potential to become the new base for defence production”, he said.

During the session, a MoU was signed between the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Government of Telangana, and Confederation of Indian Industry, under which CII will play the part of a facilitator for the Mega Plantation Drive of Government of Telangana which envisions the plantation of 25 Lakh saplings on a single day. CII’s work would be handled by CII-Godrej GBC and Indian Green Business Council (IGBC). The MoU was signed by Dr Jayesh Ranjan and Ms Vanitha Datla on behalf of Government of Telangana and the Confederation of Indian Industry respectively.

Earlier MS. VANITHA DATLA, Chairperson of CII Telangana, in her welcome address, opined that Telangana has a humungous task ahead of building the new State’s industry, infrastructure, and human resources. “This calls for a transformation of thoughts into action through innovative business models and access to technology. These can be achieved with the creation of the requisite infrastructure as the incubation centers, coming out with funding models and academic tie-ups_”, she said.

MR. NRUPENDER RAO, Vice Chairman, CII Telangana & Chairman, Pennar Industries Ltd. delivered the concluding remarks.

The conference also had a panel discussion where different innovators, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists shared their perspective on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation – the opportunities in Telagnana’. The panel included, MR. DASARADHA GUDE, Chairman, Mukuta VFX, FLT LT. BIPIN PANDYLA, Founder and MD, SuVitas; MR. RAJIV CHILAKA, MD & CEO, Green Gold Animation Pvt. Ltd.; MR. SATEESH ANDRA, MD, Endiya Partners; MR. ABHIJEET PAI, President, Puzzolana Group; and MR.DHRUV AGARWAL, Chief Strategy Officer, Gati Kintetsu Express Pvt. Ltd. The discussion was moderated by MR RAMESH DATLA, Deputy Chairman, CII-Southern Region and Chairman, Elico Limited.
