Bangalore, July 06, 2019: Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain and jazz legend Louiz Banks are coming together in a special musical confluence for the Grand Launch of the Indian Music Experience (IME) on 27th July, 2019. The Indian Music Experience is conceived, supported and developed by the Brigade Group, with support from the central and state governments, many banks, corporate and philanthropists. The duo will be joined by other stellar musicians, Gino Banks on drums, Sanjay Divecha on guitar and Sheldon D’ silva on bass. At the event, Zakir Hussain will also be donating a set of Tablas to the museum, to be part of its permanent collection. The concert will be held at 7pm at the IME grounds, next to the IME museum, in the Brigade Millennium Campus, JP Nagar 7th Phase. Zakir is one of my favorite musicians, as apart from being one of the greatest table maestros, he understands the intricacies of jazz.”
The percussion maestro, who resides in the US, is returning to Bangalore after a gap of two years. The collaboration between Louiz Banks and Zakir Hussain goes back several decades, and they have been part of numerous bands and projects together, including with the fusion band CROSS CURRENTS.
