New Delhi, March 06, 2019: In a survey report (Indo-Pak Survey 2019), conducted by Youth4work after a week of Pulwama attack, it was found that majority of youth in Pakistan believes that India-Pakistan relationship can improve in the future; the youth further believes that the issue can be resolved with talks but they deny the involvement of Pakistan in the attack; however, a very small fraction does represent that Pakistan was fully Involved.

According to the report, all the respondents strongly dismissed the idea of Pakistani ISI being a part of the incident. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being least Involved, 10 Being Fully Involved), rating Pakistan’s role in Pulwama Attack; around 85% majority rated below or equal to two points on the scale while only 14% rated above eight points. Furthermore, 35.7% of the respondents agreed with UNSC in condemning the act and urging Pakistan to hold sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bringing them to justice.

In the wake of the attack, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi had said his country “resolutely opposes and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism”, for which JeM has claimed responsibility. Surprisingly, only 28.6% of the Pakistani youth agreed on putting JeM chief Masood Azhar on the list of global terrorists.

When asked how they feel about India boycotting playing with Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup; 57% suggested that the Indian cricket team has every right to pull out of the impending ICC World Cup 2019 clash with Pakistan.

The survey was targeted to capture Pakistani youth’s unbiased opinion on the matter and evidently, around 86% of them think that there is hope of resolving the issue with talks; most came forward with a positive platitude believing that there is ample scope of sorting the prevailing ‘ugly’ situation between India and Pakistan provided Indian government listens and considers to what PM Imran Khan has suggested on investigating the Pulwama bomb blast. “My suggestion to both the countries is to cooperate with each other in order to eliminate this burden,” expressed Atif khan of Islamabad who holds M. Sc. Degree in sociology and further added, “Pakistan and India must forget about so called ‘Kashmir’. They should leave it alone in order to keep peace.”

The general perception of the youth is that soreness between the two countries is unnecessary and escalating the issue further will not be in the best interest of either nations. “Well my general belief is that both nations once lived together as one whole community and I still wish to see it like that, nobody wants the war, as for the civilians of both nations it will be a pure disaster to fight and shed blood of innocent souls and…,” revealed Sifat Ali from Karachi, belonging to age group 21-30, who was one of the hundred contestants that participated in the poll.
