To position Bihar as a low-cost production base to woo foreign investment, a Bihar Industries Association (BIA) delegation will attend the Hanover Messe 2012, a premier technology event at an international trade fair to be held in Hanover, Germany from April 23 to 27, 2012.

The BIA delegation will be accompanied by government of India representative and director of Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSME) Industrial Institute, Patna, D K Singh. The Union ministry of MSME had organized the tour of a team of industrialists from six states to Hanover.

BIA president KPS Keshri maintained that the Bihar team at Hanover, would research the possibilities of joint ventures, foreign collaborations and transfer of the latest technology. Industries in Bihar can then go international with tie-ups that would project the availability of cheap labour for export purposes. The BIA team, led by the secretary general Sanjay Goenka, consists of Sanjay Bhartiya, Sanjeev Kanodia, K N Varshney, Sanjay Poddar, P K Sinha, Sunil Kumar Singh, Manoj Khilani, Kunal Khilani and Amit Bansal.

BIA members would hold talks with the representatives of multinational companies and technologists and there are prospects of tie-ups and technology transfer to Bihar’s MSME industries. An example is the possibility of technology transfer from the German multinational, Siemens, towards conversion of iron ore dust into steel. P K Sinha revealed that the team would also look for importing cutting-edge technology to service industries, including the IT industry. Renewable energy technology used in the manufacturing of low-cost solar energy converters for setting up micro and small IT hardware units would also be explored.
