SBI Wins Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability and CSR

Mumbai, Jan 21, 2015: State Bank of India won the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability (GPAS) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the first time in the same financial year. The award was received by Shri Vinod Pande, General Manager (CC&C) from Smt. Rajashree Birla & Rt Hon’ble Baroness Verma, Minister for Energy & Climate Change Govt. of UK. Shri Ashwini Mehra, Deputy Managing Director and CDO and Shri Arvind Gupta, Dy. General Manager (CSR) were also present at the ceremony.

Golden Peacock receives the highest recognition & patronage from businesses and industries across the globe. On the eve of its silver jubilee year, the Institute of Directors (IoD) launched the ‘Winners’ Digest’ which covers the exceptional initiatives of the winners. SBI’s case study on CSR received high appreciation from the corporate world.

The award nominations were assessed at three levels by independent assessors and finally by the grand jury. Justice P.N. Bhagavati, former Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India, is the Chairman Emeritus of Golden Peacock Awards, Justice (Dr) Arijit Pasayat, former Judge, Supreme Court of India is the Chairman of Golden Peacock Awards. The coveted award was conferred on SBI after screening of more than 1200 nominations by the expert evaluation committee and eminent jury. The nomination submitted by the Corporate Communication & Change Department (CC&C) was adjudged as the best presentation in Banking & Finance category on CSR.

This phenomenal achievement evidenced SBI’s commitment to achieve world class status in sustainability.
