New Delhi, July 30, 2016: IMS – Design and Innovation academy (IMS DIA), Noida recently hosted a convoy of architects and designers from IIID at their campus to bring the essence of design thinking with the design fraternity. This team of IIID has been visiting many destinations around the country to create awareness on a unique concept of “Design to the masses”.

IMS DIA, Noida is a part of this year’s “IIID Design Yatra” which started their journey with a group of professional designers, architects and trade professionals from all across the country. The convoy is touring 29 cities of India covering 15,000 km in four Nano cars. A traditional welcome ceremony to announce the arrival of the convoy has been organised, keeping in mind the mission it embodies coupled with an open forum with the students, management and faculties of the institute. The cars leave an impression on the campus entrance where students have painted the floors with colours.

Expressing his views, Ankur Gulati, Dean Marketing and Branding at IMS DIA said, “Design must not remain exclusive, and rigid in its conventional form, but it has to be adaptable, and multi-disciplinary. Also instead of being confined to the elite, it is now reaching out to the masses. Design Confluence is a journey which will provide the students confidence and exposure to face the challenges in future. It is also an excellent platform to come face to face with industry experts, who can inspire the talents to nurture amongst our students.”

A presentation on “Design for Public Convenience” by famous Polish architects Simone de Jacobis and Maigorzara Kuciewicz were also held which provided a unique perspective on design industry to the students. This interactive presentation expounded on subjects such as “the vision for sustainable and livable cities in India”; “architecture practices: ideas and concepts”, “reverence to environment”; “changing mindsets towards catering masses” and “mobility towards urban development & infrastructure”, etc.

The institute along with the member of IIID play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s design policies and trends in the country. “Design Yatra” from IIID is an initiative for the betterment of the society wherein the representatives interact with public bodies; semi-urban and rural settlements and lend their services in design to benefit the masses.
