MAKAUT, WB has Hosted an Event on Faculty Development Programme – AR/VR/MR/XR

Kolkata, December 24, 2019: The use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) has grown across all sectors by leaps and bounds. The organizations and institutions involving entertainment, media, education, retail, real estate and automobiles to name a few have reused these technologies to involve their core audience, customers and users. The faculties who have taught in different colleges can never keep themselves aloof from the new emerging technologies, as they are the key persons entrusted with the task of nation building and influencing the minds of the young generation. It is needless to mention that through this mode of instruction, the learner had penetrated in the subject matter lucidly and vividly.

It is in this perspective that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal had recently arranged a Faculty Development Program (FDP) for 10 days, pertaining to train for Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), which took place at ITC Sonar, Kolkata and the Training session will be at the City Campus of the University at BF-142, Sector I, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700064 on Saturdays and Sundays, for the convenience of the faculties. Faculties from all affiliated colleges of MAKAUT, as well as other Colleges/Institutes in the eastern part of India had participated in the event. It can be said that MAKAUT is the nodal State University in the field of Engineering, Management and other Technical areas with more than 200 affiliated colleges.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra, the University had aimed at overall development of the teaching-learning process. A renowned academician, Prof. Saikat Maitra is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Engineers (India). Prof. Maitra had earlier received the “S.S. Bhatnagar” Memorial award for the year 2018-2019 for his contribution to research in the field of Chemical Engineering and Technology.

The Course Co-ordinator Prof. Samir Mukherjee, the Head of the Department of Emerging Technology & VR/AR/MR/XR, MAKAUT has always been an eminent personality in this field. Prof. Mukherjee is the Founder and Creative Technologist of VR AR Academia, India. His field of interest is amalgamation of art, culture and technology into a distinct bend of novelty. He is the Ambassador of World VR forum, Geneva, Director of International VR Foundation, Beijing, China and Chapter President ARVRA, USA.

VR AR Academia is a Virtual/Augmented Reality Training organisation dedicated to transforming the way content is delivered and consumed globally. It does so by creating experts and trainers on VR/AR who can integrate VR/AR in schools, news & media, hospitals, engineering and various industries and even in retail and logistics business.

Before commencing the FDP, a Conference had been arranged with all stakeholders, dignitaries and industry stalwarts on 19th December, 2019 at ITC Sonar from 10.30 am onwards. HP had joined hands as Technology Partner, Intel as Innovation Partner, Unity as Software Solution Partner, ARVR Academia as Training Designer Partner and Pico will join as Research Partner.
