To accelerate the pace of Skill Development in our country CEDP has evaluated various opportunities and is looking at scaling up the program and revisiting the gaps so that more youth from across the country can get better careers and self-employment opportunities. Skill Rebels 2016 also try to identify the real gaps and give the right direction to bring higher standards and scale to the skilling initiatives for the youths from Mumbai and its suburban regions. The youth outreach plan, corporate engagement model, skilling value-chain alignment and a rollout plan was also addressed as a part of this critical intervention. The Diploma and Certificate holder of various courses in CEDP Skill Institute exhibited their professional abilities while working in reputed companies across India during the occasion.

Mr. Vasim Shaikh, President, CEDP Skill Institute, reiterated the need for industry to come forth and participate in these initiatives as it is the ultimate beneficiary of the skilled workforce. Highlighting some of the existing challenges with respect to constraint of resources and inadequate financial support, he emphasised on the necessity for private organisations to contribute through their Corporate Social Responsibility funds. In order to escalate the targets for skill development keeping in view the constantly increasing workforce in the country, there is a need for all stakeholders including Central Government, States, and Industry to integrate their efforts to achieve the desired output.

In order to service this generation better and boost young enterprise CEDP has also designed to support young people interested in setting up a new business venture or getting an employment in prominent organisations. “The Revolutionary Skill Rebels Award” will facilitate the lean, bootstrapping style of entrepreneurship preferred by young people, enabling them to build prototypes and test the viability of their business idea with prospective customers.

The world today is home to the largest generation of youth in its history, with 90 per cent of young people living in developing countries and with estimates suggesting that labour markets will need to add 600 million new jobs by 2026 to accommodate changing global demographics.
