BPCL wins BIG in eight award categories by the coveted Centre For High Technology

Mumbai, September 17, 2022: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ and a Fortune Global 500 Company has today been bestowed with multiple awards for its business units in eight categories, highest by any company, at the 25th Energy Technology Meet convened by the Centre for High Technology, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India at an event in Mumbai.

The theme for the event this year was “Refining in New Energy Era” and the objective of the meet was to provide a forum for exposition of recent advances and technological Green developments, which are of direct relevance to the Energy sector and in particular to the Refining and Petrochemicals sector.

The awards were received by Shri Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, Shri Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries), Shri Subramoni Iyer, Executive Director (Mumbai Refinery), Shri Ajith Kumar K, Executive Director (Kochi Refinery) and Shri Abhai Raj Singh Bhandari, Executive Director (Bina Refinery), from Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and Urban Affairs and Shri Rameswar Teli, Minister of State.

BPCL won multiple awards from Center for High Technology, MoPNG in different categories. BPCL Kochi Refinery received First Prize in “Refinery Performance Improvement Award” for the year 2019-20. BPCL Kochi Refinery received Commendation Certificate in “Refinery Performance Improvement” for the year 2021-22. BPCL Bina Refinery received Second Prize in “Refinery Performance Improvement Award” for the year 2019-20. BPCL Mumbai Refinery received “Best Innovation in Refinery” Award for the year 2019-20, for Inhouse Digital solution developed for Refinery Wide Optimization. BPCL Mumbai Refinery received “Best Innovation in Refinery” Award for the year 2021-22, for the production of Group III 100N Base Oil. BPCL Lubricants (P&AD) received “Best Innovation in R&D Institute” Award for the year 2019-20, for development and commercialization of Drilling Oil Base Fluid. BPCL CRDC received “Best Indigenously developed Technology” Award for the year 2021-22 Bharat HiGee Deaeration Technology. BPCL CRDC received “Best Innovation in R&D Institute” Award for the year 2021-22, for Bharat H2 Separation Technology for Hydrogen recovery from VGO HDS Off Gas.

The Centre for High Technology (CHT) award, under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas aims to motivate the Indian refineries to improve their overall performance. The performance was judged against six critical parameters like Crude Throughput, Specific Energy Consumption (MBN), Specific steam consumption, Specific water consumption, Operational availability, Carbon intensity index and Operating Cost.

The event was organised by CHT in conjunction with HPCL. The first event was held 33 years ago and so far 24 such conferences have been organised in association with Indian oil companies on various themes relevant to the oil industry. The event has become much sought-after annual event globally, attended by large number of delegates from India and abroad including senior officials of MoP&NG & major Oil & Petrochemical companies.
