Mumbai November 15, 2013: Today is the First day of the Last International Test Match that Sachin will ever play. Recently, the Master Blaster announced his retirement. And since then, to loyal fans of the game, it is a painful journey that we all must take together. One that bids him a farewell!

Since the past few weeks, everyone has tried to bestow honour upon him in their own unique way. From the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) renaming the MCA Sports Complex at Kandivili in Mumbai after the Little Master as `Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana club` to the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association announcing that it will pay tribute to the legendary batsman by dedicating a museum to him in the HPCA premises to being conferred with the membership of Order of Australia (AM).

With so much happening, the Hotel Industry cannot be far behind. The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai is Mumbai’s first Landmark Hotel, and for more than a century has been hosting Maharajas, dignitaries and eminent personalities from across the globe. A legend in itself, one of the original grand hotels of the world, The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai is in its own way paying its homage to our Hero. Starting with the facade, the lights have been lit in blue as a tribute to Sachin who will be staying with the team during the final match. Apart from this, amenities including pillow cases to his bathrobe have been specially customized for him.

It is truly a unique gesture that the Hotel is showcasing its solidarity in honour of our ‘God of Cricket’. I have the highest respect for Sachin and for the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai and hence believe that such a gesture should be appreciated by all and be an inspiration for others to follow.

On that note, with a very heavy heart, I would like to Thank ‘The Sachin Tendulkar’ for the great man that he is and always will be. CCI Newswire
