Maharashtra, Delhi got half of companies registered under LLP in 16-17

New Delhi, January 09, 2018: Nearly half of the total companies registered under the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) have been registered in only two states, Maharashtra and Delhi only during the Financial Year (FY) 2016-17.According to the data provided by the Ministry of Finance, in FY 2016-17, total 29,403 companies registered as LLP on all India basis.

Out of the total 29,403 companies, Maharashtra got 9,769 companies whereas Delhi got 4,074 companies. Gujarat and Karnataka got 2,414 and 2,177 companies whereas big states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar got 1,411 and 252 companies respectively.
Uttar Pradesh’s share in this is nearly 4 per cent whereas Bihar got less than 1 per cent share in it.

The data shows the regional imbalances as the North East states have got a few companies registered under LLP. Mizoram bagged zero, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland bagged one each.

This is not for the first time, it is the trend since financial year 2014-15 as far as registration of companies under LLP is concerned.

The Limited Liability Partnership Rules provide for effectuating/implementing the provisions of Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008.

The Rules, inter-alia include procedures on incorporation of an LLP, its governance framework, relations inter se partners, role, functions and liabilities of designated partners, penalties for false statements, investigation of affairs of LLP, regulations for internal working/maintenance of books of accounts/audit thereof as well as for filing forms with Registrar of Companies for notifying the financial position and solvency of Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) and for conversion from firms/companies to LLPs.
