Bengaluru, November 22, 2015: We have an aggressive growth plan of opening 70 stores in 5 years. We see NAU becoming a leading eyewear brand in India – Mr. Vaibhav Sharma, India Operations and strategy head Nau! & Director at Trinity Group.
1) Please share the beginning of your journey as student?
I am a commerce graduate with a B.COM (H) degree, passed out in 2006 and then completed my Chartered Accountancy in the year 2009.
2) Please share insights about your career journey.
I started my career with Grant Thornton as an article in Internal Audit department in 2007. During my tenure of 5 years in GT, I audited many process across different industries such as IT, Infrastructure, telecommunications, education, Manufacturing, Distillery and many more. It was a great learning experience with excellent bosses who were always there to guide me.
Although I always wanted to be an Entrepreneur, I choose Internal Audit so that I can learn about different verticals and processes. I travelled across India, visited various plants and factories.
After completing the course I got promoted but decided to venture into Infrastructure and hence joined C&C Constructions as a Financial Analyst. After spending 3 months in corporate office I went to work on site in Bihar. I stayed in most deserted places in the company camps near Bhaktiarpur.
Then I came across few business proposals from which we selected NAU as we found it to be most attractive venture. It has been just 3 months since the opening of our first store and we have received excellent response from the clients. We are confident that it will be a huge success in India.
3) What are your professional achievements till date?
I have a very small professional career, but I think wherever I have worked my work has been appreciated and recognized.
4) What was the gap/opportunity in the market that made you start this venture?
Organized retail in eyewear in India is missing. NAU! Is unique. We are the only eyewear brand that provides fashion at smart prices though its organized retail chain. Eyewear in India was considered as a necessity but we treat it like a fashion accessory.
5) What are your future plans for the company? Where do you want to see the company five years down the line?
We have an aggressive growth plan of opening 70 stores in 5 years. We see NAU becoming a leading eyewear brand in India.
6) Please give a brief about your personal side apart from the work responsibilities that you handle (association with any NGO, how do you spend your leisure time, positive qualities that you posses, hobbies etc.)
I am biker. I own a Harley Davidson Roadking. Whenever I feel the need to unwind I go on a biking trip with my friends. With a thought that it is the best street buster, I also try to be regular at the gym. Apart from that I am also a cricket enthusiast and we have a team which plays matches every Saturday.
