Shell Abu Dhabi celebrates International Women’s Day

In preparation for International Women’s Day on 8th March, Shell Abu Dhabi hosted a ladies’ event to celebrate and recognize business women in the Emirate. The event brought together successful businesswomen from the ADNOC group of companies, embassies, ministries, as well as other government and non-governmental organizations. The event, held at the Emirates Palace hotel, was a celebration of successful women in business and industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahitab Shamseldin, Shell Abu Dhabi’s Communications Manager said: “At Shell we believe that every individual has something valuable to offer, and we understand that the more diverse the workforce, the wider the variety of ideas. In Abu Dhabi, we are proud of the network of businesswomen we have established over the years. This year’s business women’s event brought together a diverse group of successful business women from all career segments in the Emirate”.

Over the past years, Shell has played a very active role in supporting initiatives relating to women’s empowerment. Last year, the company held workshops on entrepreneurship for Emirati women to enable them to start their own private businesses. Shell also initiated an annual commitment with the International Businesswomen Group (IBWG) to organize monthly networking and awareness raising engagements in Abu Dhabi. In 2013, Sana Bardawil, Shell’s Regional Director for Communications was honored with the Asian Women Leadership Award.
