Students Paint Bakhtawar Chowk in Hues Of Tri-Colour

Gurgaon, August 18, 2016: Gurgaon witnessed a different start to Independence Day. In the wee hours of morning, Govt. Deaf & Mute School and DPS Maruti Kunj School students took over the Ch. Bakhtawar Singh Chowk and painted it in Tri-Colors. The Charkha and the Peacock in Tri-Colors at the chowk added to the beauty of the day.

Uthaan- a Gurgaon based NGO took the initiative to paint the Bakhtawar chowk in tricolor. The spirit of freedom was at the highest pedestal, students from Government deaf and Mute school and DPS Maruti Kunj picked up their brushes to paint the city in saffron, white and green. High in patriotic spirits students sang “Saare Jahan Se Acha” Song.

The students assembled at Bakhtawar chowk and enthusiastically participated in the celebration. To the already elevated spirit, Elan Group gifted special painting hampers and cookie bags to the students. Ravish Kapoor, Director of the Elan Group said that “We are glad to be a part of this unique initiative and sincerely appreciate the efforts of Uthaan- NGO. Today’s children are our future and I sincerely want such initiatives to be taken where they introduced to such environment. It was beautiful to see how Deaf and Mute children were absolutely comfortable communicating with us and their smiles are worth cherishing”.

DPS Maruti Kunj students along with Govt. deaf and mute children, participated in the program and made sure that everybody rejoiced in the day of freedom for our country. The spirit of oneness was evident with everyone’s participation and the Traffic Policeman on duty came and congratulated the students for their effort.

Mrs. Rachna Pandit, Principal of DPS Maruti Kunj expressed her happiness over their association with Uthaan and said “Our children were all very enthusiastic about the celebration and they proved our school’s motto of SERVICE BEFORE SELF right. We believe that every student has unlimited possibilities and we as a medium want them to experience these possibilities through such initiatives”.
