Bengaluru, December 4, 2015: The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that there are over 70 skill development schemes across various sectors implemented by over 20 Central Ministries/Departments for skill development of people in the Country.

National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) is working on a central registry of all training centers in the Country which will be accessible to interested persons and provide information on types of training opportunities in a particular area.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today the Minister said, the skill development programmes are being run across varied sectors of the economy. Altogether 39 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) have been formed which are industry led bodies and responsible for ascertaining needs of the respective sector and finalizing the standards for skilling in consultation with the industry. Out of 39 approved SSCs, 30 are operational.
