Mumbai, May 03, 2016: CBS Education Pvt Ltd a Master Franchisee for Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) Mumbai Region presents the 2nd UCMAS Listening & 1st Visual Competition 2016 was held today in Mumbai, where the audience witnessed how a human brain can compute faster than a computer or a calculator by children between the age group of 6 to 13 years.
Sri Ashok Bhau Patil, MLA, Bhandup (W) inaugurated the competition, “We could see some enthusiastic participation in the competition. I congratulate the parents who have been supportive and encouraged their children throughout. This is the first time I have seen a visual competition, I hope we have more such competitions like this in the future.”
The competition witnessed more than 1600 participants across ten districts including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar. In the listening competition, the participants had to listen to the question and answer in 0.6 seconds which is even faster than a calculator. Further, in the visual round, students were supposed to answer on the basis of a visual they saw on the board and answer the query in less than a second. They had to calculate a row of dozen double digit numbers in various values faster than a calculator.
Sanjay Bhoir, Director, CBS Education Pvt Ltd said, “This is the very first time we have conducted visual competition in Maharashtra where children and parents both have actively participated; one could see the zeal in the participants. This exercise will definitely help the kids to enhance their listening and visual capacity.”
He further added, “UCMAS is not just an abacus that helps to develop the brain but also the logical thinking, memorization, visualization and thinking power of a growing child which will help them in their future endeavours.” It was astonishing to see children’s fingers synchronized with their minds. It was completely exciting and mesmerizing to see the young human brains working logically faster and efficiently.
Master Mayank Ranvde (9Yrs) from Bandra has been declared champions of champions and Sri. Ashok Bhau Patil congratulated and felicitated with champions’ trophy.
